The Buckeye Junior Farmers 4-H Club has had a busy 4-H year!
We believe in giving back to the community. Some ways we have done that are playing bingo with nursing home residents and performing a skit for them. We have also participated in “Trick-or-Treat, So Others Can Eat”, the “Angel Tree” and provided goodie bags for the Special Olympics.
Our 4-Hers have had a chance to develop their leadership, learn new things, and gain independence through attending outside activities in addition to our monthly meetings. A member went to Rock Springs Ranch, a 4-H camp south of Junction City. Others attended Discovery Days on the campus of Kansas State University. One of the club’s members is even a public relations officer for the State 4-H Council!
Buckeye members have also practiced their public speaking and presentation skills through project talks and County Club Days. The club entered a skit and model meeting, receiving a top blue and an invitation to compete at regionals. Others had individual presentations.
Perhaps one of our favorite times of the year is the Ellis County Fair, which kicked off Thursday night with the Fashion Revue. Events for the fair will continue through Friday, July 17.
4-Hers have put in a lot of hard work and dedication to get their projects ready. We are excited to exhibit them at the fair. The Buckeye Junior Farmers invite you to come see all Ellis County’s 4-Hers’ projects this week. If you have questions about 4-H, be sure to talk to one of the many 4-Hers at the fair! Can’t wait to see you there!
