William King Bright Jr.

William King Bright Jr. was born on March 2nd, 1945, and passed away at home next to his beloved wife Lynn on April 17th, 2021.

William was born in Kewanee, IL to William King Bright Sr. and Gladys (Brown) Bright. The family then moved to Sandy, OR only to return to Kewanee, IL where sister Sandra Lynn was born 2 years later. The family moved again to finally settle in Bell Gardens, CA where Bill and Sandy grew up. Bill remained in the family home until moving to Quinter, KS in 2018. Bill joined the Navy before graduating high school and left for boot camp directly after graduation. He traveled extensively while in the Nave including Japan, Alaska, Hawaii, and Vietnam where Bill saw 4 years of combat. He returned to California where he met his wife. Lynn lived next to his best friend Tom Zeek. 

Lynn and Bill married in Las Vegas, NV. Born to this union were William King Bright III and Shannon Marie (Bright) Morris. The unofficially adopted Chrystal (Mountjoy) Sanchez as well. 

Bill worked at various jobs, but his longest employment was a press setup operator for National Oring for almost 33 years. Bill enjoyed fishing, spending time with his grandchildren, reading about trains, watching John Wayne movies, and Gunsmoke, word searches, yard work, and decorating for Christmas. Bill and Lynn both retired in 2012 and Moved to be closer to their son Billy. 

Bill's health became worse over the last few years, spending a short time in the LTC, to then be brought home to be cared for by his wife, granddaughters Cheyenne and Carrie Amos, Cassidy Janik, and son Bill and daughter-in-law Boni until his passing. 

William is survived by his wife Lynn of the home; son Bill (Boni) Bright; daughter Shannon Morris; adopted daughter Chrystal (Mark) Sanchez; grandchildren Mary Grace and Thomas Lee Bright, Cheyenne (Carrie) Amos, Cody Anderson, Joshua Anderson (Shayla Huggins), Nakia Pierce, May Pierce, and Abby, Taylor Janik (Scorpio Mason), and Cassidy Janik; great-grandchildren Allison and Lillian Bright, Katana and Osiris Mason. Godchild Amberlee (Josh) Vershaw and Maici, Koda Jo, and Daisy Vershaw, and Dylan Brown; as well as his very loved cats Spirit and Faith. 

Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 PM Friday, April 23, 2021, at Schmitt Funeral Home, Quinter.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, April 24, 2021, at Schmitt Funeral Home, Quinter, with Pastor Chris Thomas officiating. Burial Will take place at Baker Township Cemetery, Quinter.
