Hanora Gertrude Homburg

Celebration of life service will be 2 PM Saturday June 20, 2020 at St. John Lutheran Church located north of Ellis.

Hanora Gertrude Homburg, age 87, of Ellis, Kansas passed away at her daughter’s home in Ellis on April 16, 2020. She was born on October 27, 1932 in Ellis, Kansas the daughter of Clarence and Gertrude (Lynd) Shubert. Hanora married Arnold Homburg on June 19, 1965 in rural Ellis, Kansas.  He preceded her in death on November 2, 2002.

Hanora was a farmer and stockwoman. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Rural Ellis where she taught Sunday School and was a dedicated room mother for all three of her children.  She was a member of the WELCA and HDU. Hanora loved being a grandmother and great grandmother.  She was a hard worker on the farm and had a special photogenic memory and could match baby calves and their mommas without ear tags. 

She is survived by two sons, Steve (Jeri) Homburg, Ellis and Tim (Mary Beth) Homburg, Overland Park; her daughter Kathy Desaire Ellis;  grandchildren, Danny and Kimberly Desaire, Hannah, Emma and Kara Homburg; step grandchildren, Korwin (Alicia) Wyatt, Ellis and Kasi(David) Wyatt-Smith, Olathe; great grandchildren, Parker and Briella Desaire, Ellis and step great grandchildren Aiden and Sera Wyatt, Ellis and Jude, Reese and Leo Smith of Olathe.

Hanora was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers; Clarence, Keith, Elvin and John, son-in-law, Bill Desaire.
