Commerce Bank announced Monday that Shane Smith has been named president of the Hays market. In this role, Smith will be responsible for the overall administration of Commerce Bank’s Hays region overseeing banking operations and continuing business development and relationship management related to Commerce’s full line of banking, borrowing and treasury management solutions for commercial clients.
“Shane has proven himself an outstanding banker and leader. He has extensive banking experience and deep knowledge of the Hays community,” said Monte Cook, president and CEO of the Kansas market. “Shane will provide strategic direction as we continue to serve our Hays customers. With his strong relationships and proven leadership skills, we will continue to deliver the highest level of quality banking services to our customers and community.”
Smith began his career with Commerce Bank in August 2008 as a business banking relationship manager and was promoted to business banking team leader in 2014. He earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from Fort Hays State University in 2001. Smith is active in the community, including serving as a board director and past-chairperson for the Hays Area Chamber of Commerce. He and his wife live in Hays with their two children.
