
Francis ”Bones” William Pieschl passed away Friday, June 12, 2020 in
Quinter, Kansas. He was born May 21, 1931 in Minneapolis, Kansas to
Vincent Sr. and Ollie (Wolfersperger) Pieschl. Bones grew up near
Minneapolis, Kansas. He attended the Minneapolis Schools and graduated
from Minneapolis High School with the class of 1949. After graduation,
Bones attended Kansas State University and received a Bachelor of
Science Degree in Agriculture. Bones was inducted into the United
States Army as a 2nd Lieutenant. He was accepted into the flight
program and became a helicopter pilot. Some of his fondest memories
were flying and working in Africa as a consultant for grain handling and
storage.
Francis “Bones” Pieschl married Betty Ruth Meurisse January 9, 1973
in Ellsworth, Kansas. They moved to Hoxie where they raised their
family and continue to live. Bones was the owner and operator of Hoxie
Steel which was an agriculture and government construction company.
Bones and his brother, Richard purchased a small country grain elevator,
Lindsey Grain, in Lindsey, Kansas. They owned and operated it for
several years. Bones and Ruth raised ostriches for many years. Their
ostrich farm was visited by many school children. In retirement, Bones
and Ruth enjoyed traveling and fishing. They were members of the Saint
Frances Cabrini Catholic Church of Hoxie, Kansas.
Bones was preceded in Death by his parents Vincent and Ollie.
He is survived by his wife Betty Ruth of the home, Hoxie, Kansas;
sons, Larry Meurisse and wife Cheryl of Belle Vista, Arkansas and Darvin
Meurisee of Burlington, Colorado; daughter, Marcia Kruse and husband
John of Selden, Kansas; grandchildren, Kayla Meurisse of Charlston,
South Carolina, Kennedy and Kaden Meurisse of Burlington, Colorado,
Jennifer Hladik and husband Joe of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Jeremy Kruse
and wife Courtney of Olatha, Kansas; great-grandchildren, London and
Kruse Hladik and Salem Kruse; brothers, Vincent Pieschl Jr. and Richard
Pieschl and wife Nancy of Minneapolis, Kansas, and Devere Pieschl of
Fairbanks, Alaska and many friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial is planned for Wednesday, June 17, 2020 ,
10:00 A.M. at the St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church of Hoxie, Kansas.
Visitation will be held June 16, 2020 from 1:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
with family receiving friends from 5:30 P.M. until 7:30 P.M. at the
Mickey-Leopold Funeral Home, Hoxie, Kansas. At 7:30 P.M. following the
visitation, a Vigil Service will be held at the funeral home. The
family suggests memorials to The Sheridan County Benefit Walk, and

Bones was a kind loving husband, father and friend. He never knew a
stranger and always had a smile on his face. We know God only loaned
him to us for awhile. The memories of his smile and caring way will
always be there to comfort his family and friends.
