Jacobs perfect-game lifts Hays Eagles to sweep of Great Bend

HAYS – The Hays Eagles 19U baseball team used a couple of strong pitching performances from two former TMP-Marian Monarchs to sweep the Great Bend Chiefs in their season opening doubleheader Friday evening at the Hays High Field.

Colby Dreiling pitched a complete-game five-hitter in the Eagles (2-0) 8-2 win in the opener. Dreiling struck out four and walked three.

Carson Jacobs followed that up with a perfect game in a 10-0, five inning run-rule victory in the second game. Jacobs struck out seven including the final two batters to end the game. Jacobs retired three by line outs, two on pop outs on the infield and two on fly outs to right field.

Remington Cox led the Eagles 13-hit attack in game two going 3-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Brady Kreutzer, Dominic Bainter and Jack Fields all drove in two runs.

Brock Lummus went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs to lead the Eagles 10-hit attack in the opener. Kreutzer had two hits and scored two runs. Jacobs drove in three.

The Eagles return to action next Wednesday in a doubleheader at Buhler.
