Monarchs 18U sweeps the Salina Eagles

SALINA – The TMP-Marian Monarchs 18U baseball team scored 10 runs in each of their two games Friday night and swept the Salina Eagles 16U at Dean Evans Stadium. The Monarchs (5-1) won 10-3 in game one then 10-2 in five innings in the second contest.

The Monarchs scored three in the fourth and four in the fifth to break open a one-run game in the opener. Mark Rack led the seven-hit attack with two doubles, a triple and three runs driven in. Tyson Dinkel added two hits and three RBIs.

Mason Robbins allowed two runs, one earned, on six hits over six innings of relief. Robbins struck out nine and walked one.

In game two, TMP scored three in the second then five in the third. Jace Wentling, Nick Helget, Zeke Haag and Tyson Dinkel all drove in runs in the third. Mason Robbins had three of the Monarchs 13 hits.

Mark Rack pitched three scoreless innings, allowing two hits with seven strikeouts and no walks for the win.

The Monarchs are back in action Tuesday with a doubleheader at Hill City.
