The last two seasons of Tavian Creamer's track career for Hays High hardly went the way he was expecting. However on Wednesday the recently graduated Indian inked his National Letter of Intent to run for Fort Hays State University.
Creamer started getting looks from colleges early in his career. One of those was FHSU. A personal best :50.00 run in the 400 meters at the state meet his sophomore season left him just sort of the podium in 4A but set the stage for what should have been a big next couple of years.
As we all have learned over the past several months, life doesn't always go as planned. Creamer suffered through a leg injury during his junior season. Then COVID-19 took his final chance to impress college scouts. With an opportunity to run close to family at Fort Hays State Creamer took the offer to compete.
Creamer was also a starter on the Hays High football team. As a cornerback he tallied 103 tackles in his career, two for loss, grabbed four interceptions and recovered two fumbles.
