Hays received .71 inches of rain last night as a storm moved across northwest Kansas, according to the report at the K-State Ag Research Center.
Peak wind gusts reached 47 mph at the 2 meter level, and a 53 mph wind gust was reported at 8:20 p.m. at the 10 meter level.
Hays has received .72 inches of rain for the month, which is less than the average of 3.33 by the end of June.
Hays continues to be substantially below the average moisture for the year, having received 7.61 inches year to date. The average moisture for Hays as of the end of June is 14.54 inches.
The high for Tuesday was 89 degrees and the low was 49, but Hays did not set a record low. That was 40 degrees set in 1910.
The forecast for today is sunny with a high near 77, breezy with a northwest wind 16 to 21 mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph.
Thursday's high is forecast at 89 degrees with the forecast for the rest of the week sunny and highs in the 90s.
