David A. Nelson, 44, died June 8, 2020, at Ascension Via Christi – St. Francis, Wichita, Kansas. He was born December 2, 1975, in Great Bend, Kansas. David was the son of Curtis and Jan (Lupton) Nelson. He graduated from Claflin High School in 1995 and then later from North Central Kansas Technical College, Beloit, Kansas.
A lifetime Barton County resident, David was the owner and service tech for Central Kansas Commercial Laundry. David’s three most important things in life were his work, family, and friends.
On July 17, 2010, he married Carissa Voos in Great Bend, Kansas.
He is survived by his wife of the home, Carissa Nelson; children; Samantha, Sara, Zander, Micah, Lauren, and Macy; honorary daughters, Monica, Megan, and Leah; sisters, Alethea Nelson of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Jennifer Garcia and husband Frank of Harrison, Arkansas; biological father, Tim Miller and wife Cathy; and Michael and Becky of Great Bend; grandmother, Deon Lupton of Great Bend; parents-in-law, Bob & Elaine Voos of Russell; previous wife, Alisha Stroede; grandchildren, Harper, Daisy, Carter, and Chase; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Jan Nelson.
Visitation will be 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday with family to greet friends from 4-6 p.m.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 15, 2020, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, with Pastor Roger Dennis presiding. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date in Claflin Cemetery, Claflin, Kansas.
