Shirley E. Hickert was born January 25, 1949 in Lafayette, Alabama to
James and Shirley Stevens. She passed away June 1, 2020 at the Norton
County Hospital at the age of 71.
Shirley married Darrell Hickert on April 26, 1997 in Onawa, IA.
Shirley loved to do genealogy for her family and anyone who asked her
for help with their family’s genealogy. She also enjoyed spoiling her
cats and making sure they had everything they needed and more. Most of
all her family was very important to her. She would take care of anyone
whether she could afford it or not.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter,
Sierra Stevens and siblings: Jim, Rita and Burton Stevens. She is
survived by her husband, Darrell of Oberlin, KS and foster daughters:
Linda Evans of El Cajon, CA and Melina Zeph of San Antonio, TX.
A private memorial service will be held for family and classmates. A
public visitation will be 12:00-6:00 pm Thursday, June 11, 2020 at
Pauls Funeral Home, Oberlin. The family will receive friends from
5:00-6:00 pm. Inurnment at Oberlin Cemetery will be held at a later
date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shirley Hickert Memorial
