Linda Sue Hafliger

Linda Sue Hafliger went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 18, 2020. She was born in Hays, Kansas on March 17, 1950, to Carrol and Deryl (Murphy) Wynn. Linda was united in marriage to David Eugene Hafliger, at the Ogallah Christian Church on August 9, 1970. They cherished 49 years of marriage and raised four children together.

She graduated from Trego Community High School in 1968, obtained her LPN after graduating Colby Community College in 1970, and obtained her Registered Nursing License after graduating from Fort Hays State University in 1982. She was passionate about her 50 year nursing career and cared deeply for her patients and colleagues.  

As a dedicated, lifelong member of the Ogallah Christian Church, she served as an OCC pianist at the early age of 9 and continued for 59 years. She was active in OCC Ladies Aid, Friendly Dozen E.H.U., Harmony Club, as an alto, and Ogallah 4-H club, receiving the Friend of 4-H award for her dedication in teaching children how to bake and sew. 

Linda enjoyed reading, singing, baking, sewing, quilting, knitting, cross-stitching, painting, and doll making. She loved every opportunity to share these passions with her children and grandchildren. Spending time with them was important to her and attended many of their musical, school, or sporting events. 

Linda will be missed greatly by not only her family but many friends in the community.

Linda is survived by her husband, Dave of the family home; two sons, Jonathan and Jeffrey (Michelle) both of WaKeeney; two daughters, Jayme (Charles) Ghumm and Jessica (Tracy) Buchholz, both of Ogallah; 12 grandchildren, Kaitlyn (James, Madison, Aliyah, Aspen, Bryn, TJ, Jordyn, Ethan (Keisha, David (Taylor, Jacy, Abigail (Jerrick, and Emily (Hunter); six great-grandchildren, Waylon, Wyatt, Braxton, Ayden, Elijah, and Emma; her mother Deryl Wynn, two brothers, Bill (Patty) Wynn and Thomas (Tabitha) Wynn; three sisters, Peggy Braun, Vicki (Dale) Henderson, and JuLee Wynn and many cherished nieces and nephews.  

She was preceded in death by infant grandson, Garret James Richmeier; father, Carrol Wynn; father and mother-in-law, Calvin and Ruth Hafliger and their infant son, Larry Hafliger; brother-in-law, Joseph Braun, Jr.; niece, Diane Henderson; and nephew, Wayne Braun.

Memorial service will be Saturday, June 13, 2020, at the Ogallah Christian Church, Ogallah, KS. Following service, an inurnment will take place at the Ogallah Cemetery.
