Gloria Ann Wilson, 76, La Crosse, Kansas, died Wednesday, May 27, 2020, at her home.
Gloria was born April 8, 1944, in Hays, Kansas, the daughter of George and Alberta (Huber) Helget. She was a resident of La Crosse, Kansas, for 50+ years, moving from Ellis County, Kansas. A 1962 graduate of Ellis High School, Ellis, Kansas, she worked as a secretary at both Producers Gas Equities, Inc., Hays, Kansas, and Flame Engineering, La Crosse, Kansas. She also worked alongside her husband, B.J. as a farm wife and homemaker.
Gloria was a volunteer at A Second Chance, La Crosse, Kansas, having been there over 20 years. She worked the Saturday morning shift for at least the last 17 years. She also served as an Executive Board member for A Second Chance. She was an avid reader, and volunteered at Barnard Library, La Crosse, Kansas. At fair time, she could be found volunteering at the Rush County Fair. Gloria was a talented seamstress, and loved to sew.
On October 29, 1968, she married Robert J. “B.J.” Wilson at La Crosse, Kansas. He preceded her in death July 15, 2006.
Survivors include: her brother, Robert “Bob” Helget (Bernie, Hays, Kansas; her nephews and nieces; great nephews and nieces; and great great nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one brother, Gary Helget.
There will be a private graveside memorial service and inurnment at a later date.
In lieu of flowers or plants, the family requests memorials to the Barnard Library, La Crosse, Kansas, or the Rush County Fair, or the donor’s choice.
