C. Wayne Marietta passed away May 17, 2020 in Cañon City, Co at the age 
of 89. He was born January 13, 1931 in Sarasota, FL to CC “Duke” and 
Gertrude (Counter) Marietta. 


Wayne grew up in Oberlin and graduated from Decatur Community High 
School in 1949. He then went on to attend Fort Hay State University. 
Wayne married Odetta G. Long on March 2, 1950 in Oberlin, KS. He worked 
most of his life in Russell, KS as an insurance and real estate agent. 
Wayne was a Mason and Shriner and was also a member of Rotary and the 
First Congregational Church in Russell, KS. He enjoyed golfing and 
K-State sporting events. 


Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Duke and Gertrude; 
brother, Jerry and wife Millie Marietta and grandchildren: Michael, 
Paul, and Lora Marietta. He is survived by his wife, Odetta of Cañon 
City, CO; sons: Alan and wife Judith of Oberlin, KS and John and wife 
Pam of Cañon City, CO; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
