With the governor’s announcement to move the state to Phase 1.5 of Ad Astra: A Plan to Reopen Kansas, on Monday, all Hays city offices will reopen to the public.

In preparation of reopening city facilities, the city has begun modifying high-traffic areas of the city’s offices and installing plexiglass in select areas.

During this time, the city encourages customers and the public to continue using the city’s online resources at www.haysusa.com to make utility payments, apply for permits and communicate with city staff.

The number of audience chairs in the Hays city commission chambers has been reduced to nine, ensuring people are seated at least six feet apart.

Furthermore, the city commission chambers will now be publicly accessible, but with limited seating.

The city will continue to broadcast commission meetings as is standard practice and will broadcast commission work sessions until further notice. During this time, the public is encouraged to watch these meetings remotely.
