The April showers waited until May in Hays.
Light rain Monday totaled slightly more than a third of an inch, according to official weather statistics from the K-State Agricultural Research Center south of town.
Rainfall at the Eagle Media Center, 2300 Hall Street, measured 0.45 inch at 6 a.m. today.
May precipitation so far is 0.42 inches.
There's been a little less than four inches of precipitation in Hays as of May 11; the average accumulation by the end of May is 7.81 inches.
It was also cold overnight in Hays with the low dipping to 36 degrees. Monday's high temperature was only 39 degrees. One year ago the daytime high was 70 degrees.
The weather forecast calls for more rain through Thursday with temperatures warming to the upper 70s beginning Wednesday.
