The Hays Lions Club announced this week it will donate $1,000 each to the following Ellis County food/paper pantries: Community Assistance Center (Hays, Ellis Food Pantry (Ellis, First Call For Help (Hays, Salvation Army of Ellis County (Hays, and St. Joseph’s Food Pantry (Hays).
“In response to the Coronavirus pandemic, the Hays Lions Club was looking for a way to help the Ellis County community,” said Sandy Beisner, treasurer. “We felt that the greatest way to assist would be to monetarily help the many organizations in the county that provide food and other essentials to those in need."
Lions Club International was established in 1917 and the simple motto “We Serve” was later adopted in 1954. The Hays Lions Club was chartered on October 24, 1924. The club has 48 members and supports many community organizations and activities.
