Ellis County Deputy Clerk Bobbi Dreiling is the first candidate to file for Ellis County Clerk in the 2020 election.
Dreiling submitted the necessary paperwork Wednesday to run as a Republican.
After serving two terms as county clerk and election officer and serving 41 years with Ellis County, Donna Maskus is retiring at the end of her current term in January.
Dreiling has served as the deputy clerk for seven and a half years.
The candidate filing deadline is June 1. The primary election is Aug. 4. The general election is Nov. 3.
