Isabelle Fern Dumler

Isabelle Fern Dumler, 97, died May 3, 2020, at Country Place Senior Living, Hoisington. She was born April 11, 1923, in Galatia, Kansas, the daughter of Edd and Charlotte (Dumler) Karst. On March 28, 1937, she was confirmed at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Galatia. Isabelle graduated from Hoisington High School.  

On December 14, 1941, she married Armin F. Deutsch, in Susank, Kansas. To this union four children were born. Armin preceded her in death on September 3, 1973. She later married Benjamin Dumler on November 24, 1984, in Hoisington. He preceded her in death on May 26, 2006.

A longtime Hoisington resident, Isabelle was a homemaker and a farmer’s wife. She also worked at the Town and Country Grocery Store and Clara Barton Hospital.

She was a member of the Concordia Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Women’s Missionary Leauge.

Isabelle is survived by; son, Melvin Deutsch and wife Diana of Lawrence; daughter, Jolene Hindman and husband Paul of Claflin; son-in-law, Roy Nolte of Hoisington; stepdaughter, Verna Maier and husband Al of Great Bend; stepson, Larry Dumler and wife Roberta of Dodge City; brother, Clayton Karst of Hoisington; sister, Pauline Ray of Junction City; 8 grandchildren, 7 step grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands; infant son, Ronnie Deutsch; daughter, Barbara Nolte; brother, Paul Karst; and grandson, Michael Deutsch.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, and 9 a.m. to 12 noon, Saturday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 9, 2020, at Concordia Lutheran Church, with Pastor Gary Wolf presiding. In order to comply with the currant KDHE social distancing specifications, seating will be limited. Burial will follow at St. John Lutheran Cemetery, rural Susank, Kansas.
