Aaron Henry Feist

Aaron H. Feist, 88, of Sharon Springs, KS passed away on May 1, 2020, with his wife, Myrna, at his side at Logan County Manor in Oakley, Kansas.

Born in Great Bend, KS on January 28, 1932, Aaron has lived his whole life in Kansas, graduating from Claflin High School in 1950, He served in the Army from 1954-1956.  Afterwards, he returned home and graduated from Fort Hays in 1958 with a BS in Business.  Aaron received a Master’s Degree from Fort Hays in 1966.  He was a member of the Kansas Association of Secondary Schools and Principals as a representative of Area 5.

On September 5, 1957, Aaron married Myrna Lee Rumbaugh at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hays, KS.  To this union three children; Shari, Lois and Gregory were born. He taught for 38 years with 25 of those years as high school principal at Wallace County High School, Sharon Springs Kansas.

Aaron was active in many civic and religious organizations, Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Rotary Club for over 50 years, where he was a Paul Harris Fellow, and the Knights of Columbus, and also taught hunter safety courses for over 50 years. His hobbies included camping, golfing, hunting, gardening, and spending time with his family. 

Aaron was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Margaret; his brother, James; sister-in-law’s Carma Feist and JoAnn Feist; his son, Marc; and his son-in-law, Rich Heyl. 

He is survived by his wife, Myrna; his children, Shari (Martin) Albrecht of Topeka, KS, Lois Heyl of Sharon Springs, KS, and Gregory (Shelley) Feist of Detroit, MI. He is also survived by his siblings, Alan Feist of Downs, KS, Don (Rita) Feist of Ellinwood, KS, Marlene Feist of Great Bend, KS, and Kenneth (Bonnie) Feist of Chetopa, KS; nine grand-children; and eleven great-grand-children, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private Funeral Mass for Aaron will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Sharon Springs with Father Andrew Rockers officiating.  A private family visitation will be held Monday Evening at Koons-Russell Funeral Home in Sharon Springs.
