Virginia F. Hurtig, 86, Delphos, died Monday, April 20, 2020 at her home. She was born December 3, 1933 in Delphos to Willard R. and Clara E. (Liedtke) Irvine.
Virginia and Armon L. Hurtig were united in marriage August 14, 1955 in Delphos. She was a schoolteacher for many years, teaching in Grinnell, Delphos, and Concordia. Virginia was a longtime and faithful member of the Delphos First Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday School for over 50 years. She was also a member of the former Friendly Neighbors Club.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Brett; daughter, Heather; son-in-law, Donald Spear; and sisters, Twila Bailie and Marjorie Klein.
Her survivors include her children, Kent and his wife Isela, Andrea Spear; and Yvonne Burch and her husband, James; brothers-in-law, Wayne Bailie and Bob Klein; six grandchildren; and numerous other family and friends.
Due to restrictions because of COVID-19, private graveside services will be held in the Delphos Cemetery on Friday, April 24, 2020. Memorials may be made to the Delphos First Presbyterian Church and be mailed to Wilson Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 166, Minneapolis, KS 67467.
