First Care Clinic

First Care Clinic announced Friday night it had a second employee test positive for COVID-19. This employee had close contact with the first employee who tested positive and was sent home immediately after the first employee’s results came back positive. The employee has been at home in isolation since Tuesday, April 14, and is doing well.

We have been working closely with the Ellis County Health Department to identify all close contacts and are taking all recommended precautions to stop the spread of the virus.  As of this release, these individuals have been contacted by our staff and instructed to self-quarantine for 14 days. We encourage our patients to stay home and call us regarding medical care. Currently, most appointments are being held virtually. Patients can still see their regular provider, as long as they have access to a smart phone or computer with a camera and microphone. If an in-person visit is required, then all patients are screened over the phone and at the front entrance to minimize risks. If you need an appointment or have COVID-19 concerns, please call us at 785-621-4990.

To minimize your risk of exposure to COVID-19, please continue to follow standard precautions as outlined by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment:

  1. Wash hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water is not available, use hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
  2. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
  3. Stay home as much as possible.
  4. Distance yourself from others when in public, especially if you are a senior or have a medical condition that puts you in a high-risk category.
  5. Cover your mouth and nose with a cloth mask when in public.
  6. Cover coughs and sneezes with an elbow or tissue. Throw the used tissue away and immediately wash your hands.
  7. Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily -- including phones, keyboards, doorknobs, handles and light switches – with an EPA-registered disinfectant.
