Hays tied a record low of 17 degrees Monday.
The original record was set in 1928. Monday's high was 48 degrees, according to the K-State Extension Research Station.
The record high for Monday was 91 and was set in 2002 and tied in 2003.
Hays remains behind on moisture for the year. To date, Hays has received 2.86 inches of moisture. The average accumulation by the end of April is 4.57 inches.
The National Weather Service forecasts a high of 52 today in Hays with mostly sunny skies and gusts of up to 26 miles per hour. Wednesday's forecast shows a high of 64 with a chance of rain on Thursday.
