Alexander Wilbur 'Alex' Jay

Alexander Wilbur “Alex” Jay, 21, died April 6, 2020 at his home in La Crosse, Kansas. He was born April 13, 1998 the son of Dana and Melissa (Engel) Jay at Rush County Memorial Hospital in La Crosse.

He was baptized into the Catholic Church and was a member of the First Christian Church in La Crosse.

A lifetime La Crosse resident, he was a 2016 graduate of La Crosse High School and attended Fort Hays State University. He was a proud member of the La Crosse Leopard football team, Class President his freshman, sophomore and junior years, a member of the National Honor Society and Student Council, and was a Governor’s Scholar 2016 Award recipient. A 4.0 student all four years of high school, he was the 2016 Valedictorian.

Alex loved spending time with his family and friends, watching movies, and playing video games with his buddies. He was very passionate about music and loved all genres.

At the time of his death, he was employed at The Rush County News in La Crosse as the Circulation Manager and also worked for Triple E Enterprises.

He is survived by his parents, Dana and Melissa Jay, of La Crosse; one brother, Andrew Jay, of Hays; his grandparents, Lou Jay and Paul Unruh, of Great Bend; uncles, Dean (Kim) Jay, Delvin (Donna) Jay, Dreu Jay, Tim (Eyvonne) Engel, and Troy (Leslie) Engel; many cousins and tons of friends.

He was preceded in death by a grandfather, Wilbur “Doc” Jay, and grandparents, Duane and Mary Engel.

A family graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 13, 2020 at the La Crosse City Cemetery in La Crosse, Kansas.
