GOVE COUNTY —Two people were injured in an accident just before 7:30a.m. Saturday in Gove County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2017 Toyota Camry driven by John Splain, 34, Cincinnati, OH., was westbound on Interstate 70 nine miles east of Oakley.
The vehicle entered the north ditch, struck a drainage tube, and continued traveling westbound through the north ditch.
The Camry struck the KDOT fence, traveled up the bridge embankment, went airborne, struck the ground with the front end of the vehicle, struck the guardrail, rotated, and came to rest in the north ditch facing northwest.
EMS transported Splain and a passenger Silas Splain, 6, to the Logan County Hospital. John Splain was later flown to a Denver Hospital. Both were properly restrained at the time of the accident, according to the KHP.
