Lioba J. Schmidt, 90, of Hutchinson, passed away April 6, 2020, at her daughter's home, in Edmond, OK, surrounded by her family. She was born December 15, 1929, in Emmeram, KS, to Adam and Anna (Scheck) Windholz.
A Hutchinson resident since 1960, she was a retired employee of USD 308-Hutchinson Public Schools, where she worked as a cook and custodian at Lincoln Elementary and Sherman Junior High School. Lioba was a long-time member of the Roman Catholic Church.
On January 14, 1947, she married Alvin Joseph Schmidt, in Pfeifer, KS. He preceded her in death on July 7, 1993.
Lioba was also preceded in death by: her only son, Cary Paul on March 6, 2014; her three brothers, Charles, Delmas, and Ernest Windholz; and seven sisters, Sister Margaret Louise, Lucy Hertel, Leona Tallman, Teckla Gross, Regina Mai, Edna Tope, and Georgie Leiker.
Survivors include: her three daughters and spouses, Margaret (Tony) Spellman of Hutchinson, Alice (Brian) Boyd of Hutchinson, and Dr. Carrie (Gregory) Konen of Edmond, OK; grandchildren, Dane (Emily) Schmidt of Overland Park, Brooke Northern of Overland Park, Dominic (Karen) Spellman of Overland Park, Dr. Anna Boyd of Shawnee, Konrad Schmidt of Overland Park, Adam Konen of Edmond, OK, and Konnaly and Keely Schmidt, both of Hutchinson; and great-grandchildren, Stella Northern, Tobias, Evelyn, and Gabriel Spellman, and Reece Schmidt.
Private family graveside service will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
