On Wednesday, TMP-Marian senior Austin Gilbert signed a letter of intent to play baseball at Thomas College in Waterville, Maine.
Gilbert always dreamed of playing baseball at the collegiate level, but it wasn’t until his sophomore year that it became a reality.
“I always wanted to and always told myself I was going dedicate myself to getting there, but until about sophomore (or) junior year, It had never really been real.”
He considered other opportunities but said Thomas College “just clicked.”
“I will get my master's degree in the four years of schooling instead of six years,” Gilbert said, “So I won't have to go back for two extra years after college baseball if I decide to attempt to pursue further in my athletic career.”

Gilbert and the Monarchs are coming off a fourth-place finish at state a year ago.
