Ruder, Jacobs named to KBCA All-State teams

The Kansas Basketball Coaches Association has released their All-State teams for 2020. Hays High’s senior Dylan Ruder is an honorable mention selection in 5A and TMP-Marian senior Carson Jacobs honorable mention in 3A.

Ruder started in all of the Indians 23 games this past season and averaged 6.3 points and a team best 6.5 rebounds per game. The Indians finished the 2019-20 campaign with a 17-6 record. They advanced to the semifinals of the 5A State Tournament before it was canceled due to COVID-19.

Jacobs averaged 13.8 points, seven rebounds and two blocks per game for the Monarchs who won the Mid-Continent regular season and tournament titles and finished 18-5.

Plainville’s Jared Casey was named first-team in Class 2A along with Hoxie’s Harlan Obioha. Ellis seniors Zach Eck and Brady Frickey were named honorable mention along with Trego’s Charlie Russell.

Osborne’s Steele Wolters is a second-team pick in 1A. Taylor Cable of Ness City was named honorable mention.

Plainville’s Aubrey Dewey and Trego’s Lili Shubert are both first-team picks in 2A girls. Phillipsburg freshman Taryn Sides was named second-team in 3A. Emily Ryan of Central Plains heads the 1A first-team along with Madeleine Wiltse of Otis-Bison. Osborne’s Trinity Lutters was on the honorable mention list.
