Richard D. “Rich” Petrik, 90, Rush Center, Kansas, died Thursday, March 26, 2020, at Rush County Memorial Hospital Intermediate Swing Bed, La Crosse, Kansas.
Rich was born February 11, 1930, in Rush Center, Kansas, the son of Charles F. and Fannie C. (Smrcka) Petrik. He was a lifelong resident of Rush County, Kansas. Rich was a graduate of the Missouri Auction School. Rich, together with his wife, Mary Ann, farmed and raised cattle. They also owned and operated Petrik Auction and Realty, La Crosse, Kansas, for many years before his retirement.
He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, La Crosse, Kansas.
He was a United States Army veteran.
On June 11, 1951, he married Mary Ann Herrman at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Liebenthal, Kansas. She preceded him in death November 30, 2019.
Survivors include: one son, Troy Petrik, Wichita, Kansas; one daughter, Tammy Leiker (Doug, Lyons, Kansas; four grandchildren, Ryan Petrik, Reece Petrik, Alisha Pennington, and Andrea Rumler; six great grandchildren, Kadin Pennington, Trey Pennington, Bailey Pennington, Harper Rumler, Arlo Rumler, and Madelyn Rumler; and one sister, Patricia Rolfs, Mesa, Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and two brothers, Wayne Petrik, and Charles Petrik, Jr.
Because of the current challenges the world is facing at the present time, the funeral service and interment will be private, immediate family only. There will be no visitation.
In lieu of flowers or plants, the family requests memorials to the Rush County Fair, La Crosse, Kansas.
