Eunice Ilene (Herman) Baetz

Eunice Ilene (Herman) Baetz, age 91, passed away March 23rd, 2020 at SunPorch in Smith Center, KS.

Eunice was born on December 30th, 1928 in Bellaire, KS to Ezra and Lora (Harsh) Herman. Mom was the only daughter with four brothers.

Eunice met Gerald Baetz after he returned home from serving in the Army. They married in Smith Center, KS on April 16th, 1948 and lived north of Thornburg, KS. Mom helped Gerald farm and raise five kids, Linda, Michael, Cathy, Jerry and Marty.

She loved all her kids, grandkids, great-grandkids and great-great grandkids. Mom loved to raise huge vegetable and flower gardens. Mom had many hobbies, sewing, quilting, reading, putting puzzles together, playing with us kids and having picnics with the kids.

Eunice also loved her goats and other livestock, cats, dogs and nature. She enjoyed sitting on the porch swing in the evening. While dad was still alive, they loved to go for drives in the country.

Survivors include her daughters; Linda (Wes) Diercks of Agra, KS and Cathy (Garen) Diercks of Agra, KS; sons, Michael (Kay) Baetz of Agra, KS, Jerry (Pat) Baetz of Smith Center, KS and Marty (Lori) Baetz of Smith Center, KS; 13 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Ezra and Lora Herman, husband Gerald Baetz, brothers Bernard, Maynard, Clayton and Clifford and 2 great grandsons Adam and Aaron Lowther.
