A suspect is in custody in Rooks County after leading law enforcement on a chase that exceeded 110 mph Tuesday.
At approximately 12:12 a.m., a Rooks County Sheriff's Deputy attempted to stop a motorcycle in Plainville for a traffic violation, according to an announcement from the department.
The suspect fled from the deputy traveling south on U.S. 183, reaching speeds in excess of 110 mph.
"In the area of AA Road and Highway 183, the driver of the motorcycle lost control of his motorcycle and attempted to flee on foot," the announcement said. "Rooks County K9 Koda was deployed and apprehended the suspect without incident."
Leonard Malcolm Ramsey, 43, was arrested on suspicion of numerous charges including flee or attempt to elude, interference with law enforcement and reckless driving.
Ramsey has an extensive criminal history including convictions for burglary, theft, drug possession, weapons charges, driving under the influence, flee and elude, and aggravated endangerment of a child, according to Kansas Department of Corrections records.
"All suspects are innocent until proven guilty," the department said.
