Roy Lee Smith

Roy Lee Smith passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2020, in Phillipsburg, KS at the age of 72. He was born on August 17, 1947 in Leavenworth, KS to the late Bertram E. and Lora (Eskridge) Smith. He was a graduate of Andrews (TX) High School, and Toledo Butcher School. He married Patricia Burghart in Las Vegas, NV on February 15, 1977. Roy worked as a butcher all of his working career. He worked for Mr. K’s in Plainville, KS for 37 years providing quality meat products to families and restaurants in the area.

Roy is preceded in death by his wife Patricia Burghart; parents Bertram and Lora Smith; brother Arvis Ray Smith; sisters-in-law Fay Smith and JoAnn Burghart Smith; and nieces Trudy Smith and JoAnn Kay Smith.

Survivors include his sister, Irene Smith Russell and her husband Warren of Morgan Mill, TX; brothers, Leeman Smith, Eugene Smith, and Doug Smith and his wife Geneva – all of Denison, TX.; and many nieces and nephews.

A Graveside remembrance will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at the Plainville City Cemetery led by longtime friend Marvin Ellis. All family and friends are invited to attend and encouraged to share stories of their memories of Roy.
