Gail L. Mongeau

Gail L. Mongeau, age 63 of Plainville, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2020 at the Rooks County Health Center in Plainville. Gail was born on December 5, 1956 in Hays, Kansas to Levi and Grace (Meyers) Mongeau. He grew up around Zurich and attended and graduated from Palco High School. Following his graduation he attended the K-State Vocational Technical School in Manhattan.

After he finished his schooling he returned back to the Rooks County area working in the oil field until he moved to Elk City, Oklahoma in 1986 where he continued his work in the oil fields. In Oklahoma he met Clarsie Hargues. They were united in marriage in Sayre, Oklahoma on April 16, 1990. The couple moved back to the Rooks County area in 2019 to assist Gail’s brother, Keith, with his farming operation.

Gail was an avid sports’ fan. His favorite teams included the Denver Broncos for football, and the Oklahoma City Thunder for basketball. He was a big fan of his grandchildren’s sporting events; he tried to attend as many as he could. Gail loved his family; spending time with them at their regular cook-outs and playing jokes on his grandkids were some of his favorite things to do. He also enjoyed going to car shows, going on long cruises, and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Clarsie Mongeau of the home; daughter Jessica (Dominic) Krueger of Elk City, OK; step-daughters, Whitney (Dell) Vanderwork of Elk City, OK, and Shannon (Terry) Robbins of Ardmore, OK; brother, Greg (Kaylene) of Bullard, TX; and sister, Sheila (Ross) Deckert of Morrison, CO; fifteen grandchildren, Vince, Hunter, Robbie, Ryan, Kelly, Kody, Alex, Gracie, Cadence, Hannah, Gauge, Jaeden, Bentli, Axton, and Adisyn; eight great-grandchildren, Lily, Leo, Quade, Aubree, Mave, Willow, Kenadee, and Karson; and a sister-in-law, June Mongeau of Plainville.

Gail is preceded in death by his parents, Levi and Grace Mongeau; and brother, Keith Mongeau.

Private family services in Elk City, Oklahoma will be held.
