Gwendolyn Joy Cook

Gwendolyn Joy Cook, 83, passed away March 9, 2020, at the University of Kansas Health System – Great Bend Campus. She was born on July 23, 1936, at Portis, Kan., to Frank & Reta (Wolters) Bihlmaier. She married Ithel Doyle Cook on August 1, 1954 at Harlen, Kan. He died April 17, 2018.A long time Great Bend resident, Gwen previously worked for Colonial Savings, Landmark Bank and American State Bank in Great Bend. She loved the outdoors and spending time with her family, especially the grandkids.

Survivors include, two daughters, Jana Murray and husband Tom, and Sheryl Mauler, all of Great Bend; a son-in-law, Dallas Dobbs; nine grandchildren, Ashley Orewiler and husband Scott, Susan Bonczyk and husband CJ, Haley Dobbs, Jessica Dobbs, Caitlyn Johnson and husband Kyle, Brandon Mauler and wife Mindy, Rebecca Karlin and husband Matt, Trenton Mauler and wife Chelsea, and McKenna Mauler; and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, I. Doyle Cook; two daughters, Susan Cook, and Rhonda Dobbs; and a brother Gene Bihlmaier.

Friends may sign the register book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday, March 12th and Friday, March 13th, at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 14, 2020, at Bryant Funeral Home, with Pastor Arlyn Thielenhaus presiding. Memorials are suggested to the Fellowship of Faith Church or Golden Belt Humane Society, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
