BELOIT – The TMP Monarchs and the Beloit Trojans matched up in the 3A Beloit sub-state championship game Saturday in a battle of two teams that placed at the 3A state tournament last year and Beloit would come away with the victory, 65-43.
The two teams traded the lead early in the first quarter before Beloit built a 12-9 lead. TMP’s Carson Jacobs would pull down a rebound and follow it up with a layup to cut the Beloit lead to 12-11 at the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter TMP took a one-point lead on a Jackson Schulte steal and layup to open the second quarter. But the lead was short-lived as Beloit scored the next six points to lead 18-13. The Monarchs did close the gap to one at 21-20 on a Lucas Lang three pointer but Beloit took a 30-25 lead into the break.
Out of the halftime break Beloit outscored TMP 16-5 to build a double-digit lead at 46-30. They led 46-32 after three and extended the lead on their way to the 65-43 win.

Carson Jacobs led TMP with 20 points and 10 rebounds. It’s his fourth 20 point performance in the last five games and his second straight double-double.
Beloit’s Bryce Mason finished with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Vincent Palen added 17.

Beloit improves to 20-3 and it headed to the 3A state tournament in Hutchinson next week.
