Delila 'Dee' Faye (Beougher) Powers

Delila “Dee” Faye (Beougher) Powers, age 77, of rural Gove, KS, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2020, at Gove County Medical Center, Quinter.

She was born on February 15, 1943 to C. DeWitt and E. Faye (Gibson) Beougher at the Highpoint Community in rural Logan County, KS. Dee was raised in the Orion community, and would ride her horse Betsy to the Orion and Union grade schools. She later graduated from Gove High School, where she met her future husband, Roger Powers.

Dee and Roger were united in marriage on June 5, 1960 at Oakley Methodist Church, and to this union two girls were born, Holly and Shelly. Throughout her life, she was an integral part of the Powers farm and ranch, as well as working in the district court clerk's office, at the sheriff’s office, and the county clerk's office. Dee was a devout member and a major presence in the Gove Community Bible Church, serving as a Sunday school teacher for over 50 years.  She was also very active in the Christian Women’s Fellowship, was the Christian Education Chair, and Success Coffee Fellowship leader. She served on the Gove City library board, the GCIA board, was a former member of the GCMC auxiliary, and was a member of the Pleasant Hour club.  Dee enjoyed reading, embroidery and crocheting, as well as word searches and crossword puzzles.

Dee is survived by her husband Roger; daughters Holly Moore (Roger) of Berryton, KS, and Shelly Holaday of Grinnell, KS; grandchildren Jordan Moore of Lawrence, KS, Kaleb Holaday of Gove, and Nicole Holaday of Grinnell; and brother Alan Beougher of Oakley, KS. She was preceded in death by both parents.

Visitation will be Monday, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, at Schmitt Funeral Home, Quinter.

Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Tuesday, March 10, 2020, at Gove Community Bible Church in Gove with pastor Chris Thomas officiating. Burial will be at Gove Cemetery.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Gove Community Bible Church, Gove City Library, or Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Donations made to the organizations may be sent to Schmitt Funeral Home, 901 South Main, Quinter, KS 67752.
