United Way of Ellis County awards $260K to 18 area agencies

The United Way of Ellis County on Thursday announced the recipients of the 2020 Agency Funding through the CARE Council process.  The United Way of Ellis County awarded $260,000 to 18 agencies offering 23 programs and projects to the communities of Ellis County.

American Red Cross
 $4,000 – Health and Safety Training
 $3,000 – Biomedical Services
 $1,170 – Disaster Services

Big Brothers Big Sisters
 $35,000 – KSBBBS Mentoring Program

Cancer Council of Ellis County
 $20,000 – Financial Assistance for Cancer Patients
 $1,000 – Nutritional Supplements

Catholic Charities
 $6,000 – Counseling Services

CASA of the High Plains
 $18,000 – Improving Quality of Services to Volunteers and Children

Center for Life Experiences
 $3,000- Group Leader/Facilitator Specialist

Cerebral Palsy Research Foundation
 $7,000 – Support Services

City of Ellis
 $2,000 – Ellis Swimming Pool Improvement Project

Developmental Services of Northwest Kansas (DSNWK)
 $23,000 – Job Follow-Along Program

USD 489 Early Childhood Connections
 $5,475 – Connections Summer Preschool Program

First Call For Help
 $30,000 – Information & Referral/Emergency Aid
 $8,000 – Meals on Wheels
 $4,000 – Backpacks for Kids

Hays Area Children’s Center
 $37,639 – Infant/Toddler Early Intervention Services

Hays Senior Center
 $10,000 – Hays Senior Center Meal Site

KVC Hays
 $5,000 – Capacity Expansion

Options (Domestic and Sexual Violence Services)
 $15,000 – Safe Shelter

Parents and Children Together
 $4,716 – Parenting with Conscious Discipline Classes

Western Kansas Child Advocacy Center
 $2,000 – Hays Child Advocacy Center

Western Kansas Association on the Concerns of the Disabled (WKACD)
 $15,000 – Transportation to Work Program

This funding was made possible by all the business and individual donations made during the 2019 Campaign.  The United Way will be holding a Campaign Celebration and Recognition at a Chamber Chat on Friday, April 24th at 9:00 in the Hadley Center.  The public is invited.
