Wanda M. Johnson, 96, died on Sunday, March 1, 2020, at Lake Point Assisted Living in Wichita.

She was born on August 2, 1923, at Laclede, Missouri the daughter of Walter Edward & Lena Eloise (Phillips) Mossbarger. She married Fred Dale Johnson on December 30, 1943, at Washington, D.C.. He died on February 27, 1973.

Wanda grew up and attended school in Laclede, Missouri. She then attended Chillicothe Business School. She passed her civil service examination and moved to Washington D.C. where she worked for the Department of Navy. After her marriage she moved back to Laclede while her husband was in the military. After his discharge they moved to Dighton. After her husband’s death she worked at Grumbein Motor Company in Dighton until moving to Wichita where she worked for the State of Kansas in the Service For The Blind until retiring in 1993. She was a member of the Christian Church in Valley Center and V.F.W. Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting and especially loved to read. She was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, Daughter- Gloria Jean Johnson and 2 Sisters- Irene Evans & Betty Shea Grimsley.

She is survived by her Children- Gail Fogo of Wyoming, Russell Johnson of Gove, Nancy Blume of Panama City, Florida, Robert Johnson of Shawnee, Oklahoma and Ronnie Johnson of park City, 8 Grandchildren, 13 Great-Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great-Granddaughter.

Funeral Service will be at 10:30 AM Saturday at First Christian Church in Dighton with Rev Aerii Smith officiating. Burial will be in Dighton Memorial Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society in care of Boomhower Funeral Home. Friends may call from Noon to 8:00 PM Friday at Boomhower Funeral Home in Dighton.
