Sandra Sue (Sande) Burris

Sandra Sue (Sande) Burris, 65, passed away March 2, 2020 at University of Kansas Health Systems Pawnee Valley Campus, Larned.

She was born November 5, 1954 in Russell, the daughter of Edward (Jack) Eugene McClain and Melba Joy (Fritzler) McClain Adams.

A longtime area resident, moving from Lyons to Larned in 1984, she was co-owner and operator of The Butcher Block in Larned. She was of the  Christian faith. Sande was a member of the Larned Noon Lions Club, where she was honored to be the first woman president and also received the Melvin Jones award. She was the past president of the Kansas Meat Processors Association, past board member and volunteer at the State Theatre, Larned, and enjoyed volunteering in the concession stand at the baseball games. Sande recently retired from the Register of Deeds. Her main joys in life were spending time with her grandchildren, which were her world. She enjoyed riding the river and trips to Colorado with Frank in their RZR. She was always known to be in the kitchen baking or cooking. She had an orneriness and sense of humor that was unforgettable. Her laughter was contagious. She was the heart of the home and her family. She never knew a stranger and will be missed by so many.

On January 24, 1996 she married Frank Burris at Larned, he survives.

Other survivors include: mother, Melba Adams, of the home, Larned; children, Matthew McCoy, Seattle, Washington,  Lindsey (Jaeson) Cline, Garfield, Chris (Heather) Burris, Jeff (Tiffany) Burris, both of Larned; two brothers, Steve (Nancy) McClain, Pratt,  Eric McClain, Seal Beach, California; nine grandchildren, Reaghan Burris, Bailey Burris, Cade Burris, Mason Burris, Beau Burris, Gunnar Cline, Brooke Burris, Breckyn Cline, Brogaen Cline; and one soon-to-be great granddaughter, Chandler Burris.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jack, and her step father, Larry Adams.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned, with Pastor Damon Bradley presiding. Visitation 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned, with family present from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Burial in Larned Cemetery, Larned.
