Alan K. Oeser, 78, died February 27, 2020, at Glen Carr House Memory Care, Derby, Kansas. He was born February 22, 1942, in Great Bend, Kansas, the son of D.A. and Edith (Mog) Oeser. Alan attended grade school in Hitschmann, and later graduated from Claflin High School. After high school he played football for Hutchinson Community College.
On December 29, 1962, he married his high school sweetheart, Sheila M. Heinz, in Claflin, Kansas.
They then moved to Kansas City where he worked as a mechanic for a Volkswagon Dealership, returning to Claflin a few years later to raise their family and farm.
Alan was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus #1500 of Claflin. He was also a member of the NRA and had served on the Logan Township Board.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sheila M. Oeser; and their children, Allison Layne of Kiefer, Oklahoma, Phillip Oeser of Claflin, Jon Oeser and wife Jane of Claflin; daughter–in-law, Debbie Oeser of Claflin; two sisters, Kathey Carlisle and husband Lee of Holyrood, and Sherry Oeser of Portland, Oregon; seven grandchildren, Jordan Keenan & wife Nicole, Chandler Keenan, Bethany Oeser, Taylor Oeser, Lawson Oeser, Lexi Oeser, and Lauren Oeser; three step grandchildren, Kristi Nixon, Kari VanPelt and husband Dae, and Kylie Crawford and husband Rick; one great grandchild, Easton Keenan; and eleven step great grandchildren, Kaleb, Kassidy, and Kambree Nixon, Deagen , Jayln, Camryn, and Ian VanPelt, Kylie Marie, Ellie Mae, Kobe, and Rilynn Crawford.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Christopher Alan Oeser.
Friends may call 1 to 5 p.m. Monday, and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.Family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m., with Vigil and Knights of Columbus Rosary to begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 4, 2020, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, celebrated by Father Terrance Klein. Burial will follow in Claflin Cemetery.
