SALINA — A Hays woman was arrested after a single-vehicle accident early Saturday morning.

Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester said this morning that Abagail Eklund, 20, Hays, was eastbound in the 100 block of Charlotte Avenue in a 2005 Accura ATL when she drove left of center, struck the curb, and hit a tree, causing the vehicle to roll on its top. When police arrived, Eklund was still in the vehicle and having trouble getting the doors unlocked, however, she managed to get out, he said. The accident occurred at approximately 4 a.m. Saturday, he added.

According to Forrester, open containers of alcohol were found in the vehicle and Eklund displayed signs of impairment. While waiting for EMS to arrive, she attempted to walk away and was arrested, he said. Eklund was transported to Salina Regional Health Center with minor injuries, Forrester added.

Eklund was arrested on suspicion of the following, Forrester said.

• Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol
• Transporting open containers
• License carried/exhibited
• No proof of insurance
• Improper driving on laned roadways
