Longtime Thomas More Prep-Marian High School religion instructor Judy Schuler has announced her retirement from teaching at the end of the 2019-20 school year.
Having graduated in 1972 from Leoville and Lenora Rural High School and having earned her Bachelor of Arts from St. Mary of the Plains in Dodge City, Mrs. Schuler began her teaching career in Quinter Junior High, teaching science and physical education from 1976-79. She taught 16 years at Sacred Heart in Ness City before coming to TMP-Marian in 2005, where she has remained for 15 years.
“We appreciate all that Judy Schuler has done for our school and our Theology program. She has invested her life and energy into passing on the faith to the next generation. Judy has also effectively developed a pro-life spirit in our school and the hearts of our students. You would be hard-pressed to find anyone who has had more of an impact on the pro-life movement in our community. We thank Mrs. Schuler for all her time and efforts and wish her well in her retirement,” said Campus Minister Bill Meagher.
“Mrs. Schuler has led in word and deed for TMP-Marian for the last 15 years. She has faithfully led our March 4 Life group annually to Washington DC, exposing students to social justice and activism. She will be greatly missed, but we wish her the best in her well-earned retirement,” said Principal Chad Meitner.
Mrs. Schuler looks forward to spending more time with her grandchildren who all live a great distance away while returning to TMP-Marian for substitute teaching opportunities.
“I believe God called me to this school 15 years ago and it’s been a blessing in my life and in my faith journey,” Schuler said.
