HAYS, Kan. – The Fort Hays State women used a strong second quarter to turn a seven-point deficit into a seven-point halftime lead and beat the Newman Jets 78-58 Thursday night at Gross Coliseum.
The 23rd-ranked Tigers (17-4, 8-4 MIAA) made only four of their first 14 shots but went 12-of-16 from the floor in the second quarter.
FHSU scored seven straight early in the third quarter to push their lead to 11 then put the game away with an 11-0 run the fourth.
Taylor Rolfs led four Tigers in double-figures with 17 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals. Cydney Bergman scored 11 off the bench on 4-of-4 shooting. Jaden Hobbs and Belle Barbieri both added 10.
Kaitlyn Potter his six 3-pointers and came off the bench to lead the Jets (9-14, 4-10 MIAA) with 24 points.
