Helen Marie (Ambrosius) Brown

Helen Marie (Ambrosius) Brown, age 76, of Hays, Kansas, died Sunday, February 2, 2020, at Via Christi Assisted Living Center in Hays.

She was born November 9, 1943,in Spokane, Washington to William H. and Helen Josephine (Woods) Ambrosius.  She married Richard C. Brown on June 12, 1965, in Enid, Oklahoma.  He preceded her in death on September 9, 2007.

She was a charge nurse, a clinical supervisor, an inpatient rehab and skilled nurse for over 30 years.  She worked in home health care and at the Goodland Hospital for 13 years.  She then moved to Hays in 1993, and worked at Hays Medical Center until she retired in 2010.  She a 1961 graduate of Enid High School, she received her BS in Science Education in 1966 from Philips University in Enid, her LPN in 1980  from Colby Community College and her BSN. RN. Cum Laude, in 1994 from Fort Hays State University.

She was a member of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church and a Lay Reader.  A life time member of the  American Association of University Women, and a member of the National and State Association of Rehabilitation Nursing. 

Survivors include her two sons, Rick Brown and his wife, Jennifer, Derby, KS; Bill Brown, Hays, KS; one brother, Bill Ambrosius and his wife, Kathy, Dove Canyon, CA; six grandchildren: Jordan (Ruby) Moore, Jayme Brown, Liam Brown, Cody Ramsey, Kael Ramsey, Keaton Brown; and one great grandchild, Elizabeth Moore.

She was preceded in  death by her parents and her husband,

Memorial services are at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 8, 2020, at The St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, 2900 Canal, Hays, Kansas.  Inurnment will be in St. Michael’s Episcopal Church Columbarium Hays, Kansas.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. Saturday, at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church.

The family suggests memorials to the Humane Society of the High Plains.
