Ellis Co. restaurant and lodging inspections, 1/27 – 2/02

Last week’s inspection results from the Kansas Department of Agriculture:

Hays Middle School - Jan. 30
29th and Fort - Hays

A routine inspection found two violations.

  1. In the hot-holding box, there were two containers of fully cooked pasta that were at a temperature of 129 F.
  2. In the first walk-in cooler, there was a container of cottage cheese that had a date of 1/22/20.

Ellis High School - Jan. 30
1706 Monroe - Ellis

A routine inspection found two violations.

  1. In the walk-in cooler, there was an opened container of yogurt with no date. 
  2. In the walk-in cooler, there was a case of raw shelled eggs that were being stored directly above a sealed bucket of pickles. No evidence of leaking was observed.

St. Mary's Elementary - Jan. 30
605 Monroe - Ellis

A routine inspection found two violations.

  1. In the Beverage Aire three-door refrigeration unit there was a crate of raw shelled eggs that were being stored directly above a sealed container of pears. No evidence of leaking was observed. 
  2. In the three-door Beverage Aire refrigeration unit, there was a container of cut cabbage that had no date of when it was opened. 

Library Bar and Grill - Jan. 29
1102 3rd - Victoria

A routine inspection found three violations.

  1. Cook had handled a raw ground beef patty with her bare hand and then grabbed a plate with the same hand. No handwashing had occurred. 
  2. In the single-door Whirlpool Refrigerator, there was a food-grade container that held a raw ground beef that was being stored on a wire rack directly above a food-grade container of cut ready to eat tomatoes. No evidence of leaking was observed. 
  3. In the back storage area, there was a container of sanitizing powder that was being stored directly above a case of tomato sauce. No evidence of leaking was observed.

Taco Bell - Jan. 29
1730 Vine - Hays

An inspection following a complaint found three violations.

  1. In the back prep area, there is a knife storage container that is screwed to the wall. There were two knives that had dried food residue present along the blades. 
  2. The kitchen hand washing sink hot water tested at 94 F.
  3. On the wall next to the managers' office there is a first aid kit that is being stored on the wall directly above a food prep table. There are several liquid medications that are being stored in this kit. No evidence of leaking was observed. 

Victoria High School - Jan. 29
1107 10th - Victoria

A routine inspection found no violations.

Imperial Garden - Jan. 27
2918 Vine - Hays

An inspection following a modified complaint found no violations.
