Patsy Anne Hapes, 78, died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2020 at her home in Garden City. She was born Nov. 21, 1941 in Hutchinson, the daughter of David and Frances (Wilcox) Stephenson.

Patsy moved with her family to Tribune, when she was very young. She attended Tribune schools and graduated from Greeley County High School in 1959. She then attended and graduated from cosmetology school in Hutchinson.

On Oct. 22, 1961, she married Arlen Hapes in Tribune. They moved to Garden City where they have lived since. A homemaker, Patsy owned her own beauty shop for a short time in Tribune. She also worked as the bookkeeper for Hapes Trucking. Patsy enjoyed dancing and she was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan.

Survivors include her husband Arlen Hapes of the home; two children David and wife Janice Hapes of Holcomb, and Debbie and husband Wayne Amos of Garden City; a sister Carrol Deane Young of Tribune; a brother Don Stephenson of Oakley; four grandchildren David Amos, Ashly and husband Tyler Deines, Dylan Amos, and Kaitlyn Amos; three step-grandchildren Kayla Brown, Kassie Brown, and Trever Brown; five great-grandchildren Tru Amos, Khloe Deines, Paige Deines, Harper Amos, and Ryker Amos; and numerous step-great-grandchidlren.

Patsy was preceded in death by her parents; a son Danny Hapes; and a brother Davie Stephenson.

A private family interment will take place at a later date at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. There will be no calling hours. The family suggests memorials given to the Heartland Cancer Center in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City.
