Arrest made in Phillips County church burglaries

One person is in custody following a series of burglaries in Phillips County.

The Phillips County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest in a case that includes burglaries in area churches and a grade school.

"On December 23 and 24, 2019, the Logan Grade School, Logan United Methodist and Catholic churches and the Luctor Christian Reformed Church were burglarized," the department said. "We're pleased to announce that we have arrested one individual that was involved."

Phillip Michael Byrant, 23, Norton was arrested on suspicion of four counts of burglary, two counts of attempted burglary, nine counts of contributing to a child's misconduct, three counts of theft and three counts of criminal damage to property.

Byrant remains in custody in lieu of a $180,000 bond.

Additional arrests in the case are pending according to the department.

All individuals are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, the department said.
