Ellis County Sheriff candidate Al Ackerman has withdrawn from the race.
The retired Highway Patrol lieutenant submitted a letter to the Ellis County Clerk last week removing his name from the 2020 ballot.
Ellis County Undersheriff Scott Braun has also filed to run for sheriff.
Longtime Sheriff Ed Harbin is not running for re-election.
The candidate filing deadline is June 1. The general election is Nov. 3.
