Storm drops an inch of snow Tuesday; highs in 60s forecast for Sunday

Hays received .8 inches of snow in the 24 hours ending at 8 a.m. this morning, according to the weather station at the K-State Ag Research Center in Hays.

The center was reporting a snow depth of 1 inch on the ground. Total moisture for this event was .09 inches.

Hays has received 10.2 inches of snow for the season, which is above the 9.27 inch average of accumulation expected by the end of January.

Hays has received 2.1 inches of snow this month and just less than an inch of moisture so far this year.

Today's forecast calls for mostly cloudy skies with a high near 38 and calm wind becoming south around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Temperatures are forecast to continue to rise throughout the week with a high of 65 on Sunday.

The next forecast for precipitation is a chance of snow on Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.
