In 2017 the Chamber Board of Directors adopted a strategic plan with three long-range goals:

  1. Maintain financial stability
  2. Collaborate with community leadership
  3. Enhance membership benefits/services and value messages

Member investor New Boston Creative Group was hired by the Chamber board in the fall 2018.

They were tasked with conducting a comprehensive communications audit that the Chamber would use to develop messaging and branding to help the Chamber accomplish these goals.

Three focus groups were utilized to complete this audit, including:  Chamber staff, board directors, one with member investors and a non-member.  The communication audit revealed several challenges that the Chamber would need to address in order to continue effectively serving current member businesses and attract new member investors.

In October 2019, after a transition of several staff members, the Chamber Board of Directors, Chamber staff, Ambassadors, Hays Area Young Professionals, and partnering agency directors engaged in a strategic planning session to review the recommendations from the comprehensive communications audit.  Through this process, several goals emerged that will be used to guide Chamber’s staff and board of directors from 2020 to 2022.
